These courses span over all subject areas listed in the published NCEES® CBT Syllabi. Exam preparation and exam taking strategies are covered in the first class to maximize the exam preparation efficiency and the probability of success in the exam. What distinguishes the Sem-Train FE courses from others are the handouts/notes and the experience of the instructor. Each participant will be able to contact the instructor – with questions related to the material covered in the class – for a period of sixty (60) days after commencement of each course.

Even though short introduction to engineering principles and concepts is provided on most topics covered in the courses, they focus heavily on problems and the type of questions likely to be encountered in the exam. All lectures are based on Microsoft ® PPT slides and the NCEES® FE Reference Handbook. As problem solving techniques are reviewed in the class and practiced by candidates, continuous reference is made to the information, data and formulas in the NCEES® FE Reference Handbook; this is essential for enhancing examinees’ handbook navigation skills, since NCEES ® FE Reference Handbook will be the only reference available to the examinees.

FE Electrical & Computer, Live, In-Person Course Overview

This forty-hour, live, on-line Fundamentals of Engineering Review Course is designed to prepare examinees for the FE Electrical and Computer, 6 hour, 110 multiple-choice question, CBT, computer-based test. The course spans over all eighteen (18) subject areas that are covered in the test. These eighteen subjects are covered in the course through seventeen (17) modules. On average, three modules are covered during each eight-hour class day.

Exam preparation and exam taking strategies are covered in the first class to maximize the exam preparation efficiency and the probability of success in the exam. Classes are held live, on-line, using WebEx conferencing audio/video system. What is the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam?


The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is usually the first step on the road for anyone looking to obtain their license as a Professional Engineer (PE). This exam is designed for those who are recently graduated or even students close to finishing their undergraduate engineering degree (from a program accredited by EAC/ABET) and who want to get ahead of their competitors.

What does the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam Include?


This exam is a computer-based test including 110 multiple-choice questions that can be taken all year round. The exam lasts a total of 6-hours including a 25-minute break and is offered across all subjects areas published in the NCEES® CBT Syllabi. During the exam, you will be provided with an electronic copy of the NCEES FE Reference handbook for reference.

The course is broken down into 17 modules covering each of these subject areas and around 3 modules will be covered in each 8-hour day of the course. If you are unable to attend a live session you are also able to access the recordings of these classes for a limited time period.

You will also be given a thorough run-through of how best to prepare for the exam on the first day of the course and explore strategies for exam success to improve your revision and practice efficiency as you go through the course. What’s Next After Passing the FE Exam?


Test results are typically available after 7-10 days and will include advice on how to proceed based on your test scores. If you want to continue towards full engineering licensure then you will need to obtain a minimum of 4 years’ experience which is approved by State Licensing Board AND take the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam in your specific discipline.
