Semtrain founder Professor Bobby Rauf began developing seminars over 20 years ago as community service for the PE community when he sensed that while there were plenty of PDH seminars, many did not deliver sufficient opportunity for refreshing and enhancing engineering related skills. Professor Rauf was also driven by the lack of cross training courses which led to the development of his first 8-PDH course titled “Electrical Engineering for Non-Electrical Engineers.” That course precipitated in his best selling 550+ page book, also titled: “Electrical Engineering for Non-Electrical Engineers.” Rest, as they say, is history! Aligned with that tradition, what sets Semtrain apart from other large PDH / CPC Course Providers, is that Semtrain does not launch or offer any course that does not deliver substantial amount knowledge and skills. Semtrain Team of seminar instructors consists of highly trained and experienced registered professional engineers in various engineering disciplines, including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical Engineering.

Mr. Bobby Rauf is the President, Chief Consultant and a Senior Instructor at Semtrain, LLC. Professor Rauf has over 25 years of experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering, Science, Math, Business Administration and MBA courses, seminars, and workshops. Mr. Rauf earned his BS in Electrical Engineering, with honors, from NC State University, Raleigh, NC, USA. He earned his Executive MBA degree from Pfeiffer University Misenheimer, NC, US. Prof. Rauf is registered (PE) Professional Engineer, in the States of North Carolina (License/Reg. # 021995), Wyoming, and Virginia. He is a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Manufacturing Technologist, and Certified Ergonomist.
Mr. Rauf was inducted as “Legend in Energy” by AEE, in 2014. He is a published author of multiple engineering and energy books and professional development courses. He holds a patent in process controls technology. Mr. Rauf is a member of NSPE (National Society of Professional Engineers), ASEE (American Society of Engineering Education), and AEE (Assoc. of Energy Engineers).
Prof. Rauf is certified to instruct various engineering, ergonomics, and industrial safety courses. He has conducted certification training and trained engineers for Professional Engineering licensure exams in the United States, The United Kingdom, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, The Netherlands and Ukraine, over the past fifteen years.
Welcome to Semtrain! All of our courses meet NCEES CPC (Continuing Professional Competency) and PDH Guidelines and are approved by individual State Professional Engineering Boards that require CPC/PDH Course Provider approval. Our faculty are fully qualified experts in their fields with years of engineering, energy, safety, code, and engineering project management experience.
